Subaru Winter Experience 2021 is cancelled due to Covid-19
September 29, 2020
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Subaru Winter Experience and Subaru of America have made the decision not to hold the event in early 2021. Based in Eagle River, Wisconsin, Subaru Winter Experience made its debut in the winter of 2018 and has run winter driver development programs on Dollar Lake for each of the past three years.
“Postponing the next edition of Subaru Winter Experience is of course a very hard decision to make, but we feel that we need to do our part to minimize the spread of COVID-19,” said Subaru Winter Experience founder Patrik Sandell.
“Our participants fly in to Wisconsin from all parts of America, and until we have a vaccine or the spread of the virus is under control, we feel that we have to take a step back. We look forward to returning to Eagle River once again as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
“Subaru of America regrets that we will not be able to produce Subaru Winter Experience in 2021,” said Bill Stokes, Subaru of America motorsports manager. “We share the disappointment with all of those who were looking forward to driving our cars on the ice this winter, but feel that the uncertainty of the situation means we must take every possible precaution for the health of participants and the local community. We look forward to working with FlatOut Sweden to explore our options for the event in the future.”
Subaru Winter Experience gives drivers the opportunity to take their driving to the next level in brand new Subaru WRX STIs, WRXs, and BRZs on Dollar Lake in picturesque Eagle River, Wisconsin. Each car is equipped with specially studded tires to handle driving on the ice, while Sandell and the world’s best instructors from DirtFish are on hand to guide participants every step of the way, no matter their skill level. Subaru Winter Experience made its debut in winter 2018, and has welcomed a larger group of drivers in each year of its existence.
