Subaru Winter Experience Makes 2019 Debut With Successful First Week of Classes
February 15, 2019 — The second annual Subaru Winter Experience returned to Dollar Lake in Eagle River, Wisconsin on Tuesday with the first day of nearly a month of classes. This year’s first group of students got the first taste of brand new courses for 2019, complete with new challenges, new vehicles, and proper rally pace notes available for every single track layout.
“Putting together a program like Subaru Winter Experience is a huge production that requires a lot of time and effort from a large group, but it’s all worth it to see everything come together like this,” said Subaru Winter Experience founder Patrik Sandell. “I’m grateful to Subaru of America, Flatout Sweden, DirtFish, and Kuhl for their support in putting our second year of this event together. We’ve expanded dramatically over the last year to produce an ice driving experience that’s bigger and better than ever, and we can’t wait to welcome each of our attendants!”
This year’s Subaru Winter Experience will boast more than twice the number of participants of last year’s inaugural outing. Well over 200 drivers, ranging from complete novices to experienced professionals, will take to the ice in Subaru WRXs, WRX STIs, and BRZs equipped with specially studded tires from Sweden.
They’ll receive coaching from Sandell, the 2006 Junior World Rally Champion and Subaru Motorsports USA factory rally and rallycross driver, as well as top instructors from supporting partner DirtFish Rally School. In addition, this year’s cars feature the brand new Subaru Motorsports USA livery, allowing drivers to follow in the footsteps of such legendary Subaru-backed drivers as Sandell, his rallycross teammates Chris Atkinson and Scott Speed, and the team’s dominant stage rally duo of David Higgins and Travis Pastrana.
